Launching new series

Elevating voices.

The Long Game with LZ & Leitch was a new podcast series by The Recount designed to expand coverage into sports by examining it through the lens of politics and culture. We had to find a new audience as The Recount audience is typically politics-only.

In development.

While The Long Game with LZ & Leitch was in development phase, we had to create the look and feel, craft the marketing strategy, develop launch assets. The hosts were influential sports media figures, and since this was a new vertical for The Recount, we wanted to play up the profiles of our talent and connect people to Will Leitch and LZ Granderson even more than The Recount.

In production.

For the launch, we played up the sports theme with host baseball cards and other get-to-know the hosts video and graphic assets. The launch was more of a soft launch

In a flow.

After launch, we needed to ramp up our efforts and exposure. We began a paid media campaign, transitioned the show to a weekly livestream show in addition to the podcast output, captured media assets, and then pushed PR efforts with a Superbowl Row appearance. Resulting in a 10x growth of listenership.
